The Waterfront visited our school to teach the children about sea life native to Long Island. The children loved learning about different marine life and even had the opportunity to safely touch some of the sea creatures during this hands-on experience. Thank you, Miss Abby for visiting us and sharing all your sea life knowledge!

On Thursday, 7/30, please have your child wear their bathing suit to school. Pack a labeled towel and a complete change of dry clothes—we’ll help them get changed after all the fun. 🏷️ Make sure EVERYTHING has their name on it, including that towel! ☀️ Don’t forget to slather on the sunblock before they head out. It’s a rain or shine event. We’ll only cancel if there’s thunderstorms.

Our Sea Life theme continues to make a splash! Today was filled with so many fun crafts, hands-on learning, and smiling faces throughout the school. We were excited to welcome our friends from The Waterfront, who taught the children about sea life native to Long Island. The highlight of the day was getting to touch some of the sea creatures and experience learning in such an exciting, hands-on way!
Every classroom was busy creating, exploring, discovering, and making wonderful memories together. It has been another day filled with laughter, love, learning, and friendships—the things that make St. Peter’s Nursery Preschool so special.

To top off a fantastic day, Miss Laurie joined us for Music and Movement. The children had a ball singing, dancing, and learning all about the importance of seat belt safety.

Today marked the beginning of Session 2 and the start of our final two weeks of the Summer Program! Our theme for the week is Sea Life. 🦀🦈🪼🐳
The children enjoyed creating fun sea life crafts while learning about ocean animals in their classrooms. With the rainy weather, we headed to the lower auditorium where the children had a great time riding cars and staying cool and dry.
Some of our classes also welcomed new friends who joined us for Session 2. We are so happy to have them with us!
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s exciting adventure! Our friends from the Waterfront will be visiting to teach us about the sea life native to Long Island. The children will have the opportunity to see and even touch some of the sea creatures. We’re looking forward to another fun-filled day of learning and exploration!

Today we had to wrap up our Sea Life theme! We began our morning outside on the playground, making the most of the beautiful weather.
This brings our Sea Life week to a close. We hope your children had as much fun learning about ocean animals as we did teaching them!
Next week is our final week of Summer Program, and our theme will be Transportation. To end the summer with a splash, the Fire Department will visit on our last day with their fire trucks! The children will have the opportunity to explore a real fire truck, sit inside, meet the firefighters, and, cool off as they’re sprayed by the fire hose. This will be a rain-or-shine event unless there is thunderstorms.

Today was another fun-filled day at St. Peter’s Nursery Preschool!
We started our morning with Music & Movement led by the wonderful Miss Laurie. The room was filled with cheerful singing, bouncing feet, and the bright, playful sounds of the Boomwhackers as the children tapped, shook, and explored their new instrument together. Their faces lit up with excitement as they moved to the music and listened to the lively rhythms all around them.
It was another day filled with learning, laughter, creativity, and fun! Tomorrow, we wrap up our final day of Session One. We can’t wait to make more wonderful memories together!

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming a very special guest, Mr. Brent O’Donnell, a paramedic who works in EMS. He taught the children about the important role p EMT professionals play in helping people and keeping our communities safe. The children loved seeing some of the equipment he uses and were thrilled to have a hands-on opportunity to explore it!
A very special thank you to Mr. O’Donnell—better known to us as Gavin and Declan’s dad—for taking time out of his busy day to visit our Summer Program. We are so grateful for his kindness and for sharing his knowledge with our little learners.
We also enjoyed playground time, creative play, and continued our conversations about the many amazing community helpers who make a difference every day.
Thank you to all of our wonderful families for sharing your children with us. We hope they came home excited to tell you all about our special visitor! We can’t wait for another fun-filled day tomorrow! 💙🚑☀️
Week Two is Farm Week! 🐐🐰🐥
We kicked off our Farm Week by welcoming Once Upon a Farm for another amazing petting zoo experience! The children had so much fun meeting and interacting with the goats, bunnies, chickens, and other friendly farm animals. It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience that was enjoyed by children of all ages.
A heartfelt thank you to Once Upon a Farm for joining us once again and making this special event such a memorable part of our summer program. We are so grateful for another year of smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories!

Today was an exciting day as we welcomed Once Upon a Farm for a special petting zoo experience! The children had so much fun getting up close with chickens, bunnies, and goats. It was a wonderful hands-on learning opportunity, and there were lots of smiles all around!
Tomorrow, we’re looking forward to a special visit from Miss Laurie, who will be joining us for Music & Movement. 🎶

It is hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by. The next step is saying goodbye to our Monday through Friday class, which finishes tomorrow. Then, we will come together on Wednesday to celebrate our amazing students at graduation.

Today was our last Music & Movement Enrichment class! We had so much fun traveling back through all of the countries we explored and reviewing the special instruments we learned about along the way. The children celebrated their musical journey by receiving their Music Around the World Passport and Explorer Certificate. Today was our last regular TTH classes of the 2025–2026 school year! It has been such a pleasure getting to know each of your children and watching them grow throughout the year. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and the friendships they have made along the way..

Monday, June 8th, was our final Literacy Enrichment class of the school year. We wrapped up our author study featuring Salina Yoon, enjoying her wonderful stories and the engaging activities that accompanied them throughout the series.

Spirit Day Success for Our MWF Classes! 🌺
Today was a tropical celebration for our last Spirit Day! Dressed in their Hawaiian-themed attire, the children enjoyed a fun-filled day of learning, laughter, and friendship.
We spent time playing, exploring, and making wonderful memories together while celebrating the spirit of summer. The beautiful weather made the day even more special as we enjoyed sunshine and smiles all around.

Our Pre-K classes headed to Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery today for their final field trip of the school year! It was a beautiful day filled with sunshine, friendship, learning, discovery, and adventure.
The children enjoyed exploring the hatchery, observing fish and sea life, and experiencing hands-on learning outside the classroom. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, excitement, and enthusiasm as they discovered new things alongside their friends.
As we near the end of the school year, this special trip was a perfect way to celebrate all the growth, friendships, and memories we’ve made together. We are so proud of our Pre-K students and all they have accomplished this year!
It was a wonderful Wednesday filled with beautiful weather, learning, laughter, fun, and friendship! We spent the day enjoying time together while continuing to learn and grow. The children worked hard, played happily, and shared many smiles with their classmates.

Music & Movement – Session 3, Week 9
This week we traveled to South Africa 🇿🇦 and learned about the djembe drum 🥁. We discovered that the djembe is played with your hands and can make many different sounds. The children had fun drumming, dancing, and exploring rhythms while listening to African music!
There’s no stopping us now—it’s full speed ahead to the end of the school year! We are making the most of every day and enjoying every last minute together. It has been a wonderful year filled with learning, laughter, friendships, and memories, and we look forward to finishing the year strong while celebrating all that we have accomplished. 🍉6.2.26🍉
Art Enrichment – Week 9: Invitation to Create Sea Creatures 🐠🐙🦀
This week, our artists used a variety of shapes to create colorful sea creatures! Ovals, triangles, circles, hearts, and many other shapes were combined to bring their underwater creations to life. This creative activity helps prepare the children for Pre-K by reinforcing shape and color recognition while encouraging imagination and fine motor skills.
Next week is our final week of Session 3. We will be creating sand castles using a variety of different shapes and materials. It’s hard to believe we are already at the end of the school year!

Music & Movement – Session 3, Week 8
This week we traveled to Ireland 🇮🇪 and learned about the fiddle 🎻. We discovered that the fiddle has four strings and is played with a bow. The children had a wonderful time listening and moving to lively Irish music, exploring rhythm and movement with instruments, and even getting the chance to play a real fiddle/violin!

📚 Literacy Enrichment 🐍
This week we read the fun and engaging book Opposnakes by Salina Yoon and followed it up with a super-duper cool snake craft! The story introduced us to opposites such as clean and dirty, quiet and loud, and hot and cold. The grand finale had everyone smiling as one lonely snake became lots and lots of snakes having a party!
The children had a wonderful time exploring these opposite concepts while creating their colorful snakes.

This week we traveled to India 🇮🇳 and learned about the sitar 🎶, a special string instrument with many strings that makes soft, twinkly sounds. The children had so much fun exploring maracas, drums, xylophones, and tambourines while dancing and moving to beautiful sitar music!

Today in Lunch Bunch, we learned all about African lions! The male lion is bigger, has a mane, and protects the pride. The lioness is the hunter, and lions can run up to 50 mph! 🦁💨
After learning, we enjoyed lunch and had fun playing with Legos, Batman toys, and magnet tiles. Before we knew it, it was time to go home! ✨
What a wonderful way to kick off the weekend! First, our Pre-K classes released their butterflies, and we ended the day with our Monday/Wednesday/Friday and Monday–Friday 3-year-old classes celebrating their mothers with a special brunch.

In honor of Mother’s Day, each little artist has crafted their very own unique flower using colorful precut shapes like circles, triangles, ovals, and rectangles. 🌈 This hands-on lesson not only nurtures their creativity but also helps reinforce gluing skills and shape and color identification. 🎨✨ As we bloom into PreK, these skills are blossoming beautifully! Session 3/Week 4 of Spanish Enrichment class. This week, students learned that orejas means ears, and we reviewed cabeza (head), ojos (eyes), nariz (nose) along with numbers, colors and greetings.
We also played with Mr. Potato Heads to reinforce our head parts in Spanish.
Each week, students create a page for a book that they will receive at the end of the session

What a fantastic Ice Cream Social we had! 🍦✨
This afternoon was filled with laughter, delicious sundaes, and great memories made with friends. We enjoyed lunch together, played duck duck goose, had fun with ‘Pin the Cherry on the Ice Cream,’ and delighted in some ice cream stories! 📚🍒
Our PREK class even did Freeze Dance, where everyone showed off their best moves and froze in silly poses! 🕺❄️
