Love That Glows From the Heart
For this Valentine’s Day art project, the children explored color, shape, and creativity using fluorescent paint, heart-shaped cutouts, and heart-shaped cutters. Each child began with a bold heart cutout placed on black paper, then used heart-shaped cutters dipped in bright, glowing paint to stamp and decorate around their heart.
This process-focused activity encouraged fine motor development, hand–eye coordination, and creative expression, while allowing each child’s unique style to shine. The contrast of neon paint against the dark background makes every piece pop—just like the love and individuality behind each one.
No two hearts are the same, and that’s what makes them special. These glowing masterpieces remind us that love comes in many colors and every child brings their own light to our classroom.
Music and Movement Enrichment – Session 2, Week 6
Boom, tap, tap! This week we had a blast learning all about drums and exploring soft and hard sounds. We practiced tapping quietly… then loud and proud! The children loved making their very own hand drums and moving their bodies to the beat. So much rhythm, movement, and BIG smiles all around! 🎶💃🕺
Week 7 of session two is done! We learned the Spanish word “Morado,” meaning “purple”💜. Students got creative with purple-themed paintings of grapes, eggplants, wizards' hats, and flowers for their color books - a special keepsake from their learning journey. We also recapped numbers 1-10, greetings, and colors from weeks 1-6. Don't forget “gracias” - thank you! See you all next week.
Week 6 of session two, we learned the Spanish word Marron,” which translates to “brown” 🐻. The students engaged in creative activities, crafting brown-themed paintings, such as teddy bears, logs, boots and monkeys for their color books. These paintings will be taken home as a memento of their learning journey. Additionally, we revisited the numbers 1-10 , greetings, and the colors covered in weeks 1-5. We will see you all next week.
Today, we embarked on a creative journey to recreate the renowned pop art of artist Andy Warhol. Our first step involved crafting the background by stamping fluorescent green paint onto black cardstock using cardboard as our paintbrush. Next, we prepared our flowers by selecting vibrant fluorescent colors from the children’s choices and using a gift card to scrape the paint across the petals. All the components are currently drying on the drying rack in our classroom. Next week, we will cut out the flowers and glue them onto our backdrop to complete our painting.
Spanish Enrichment- our fifth week of session two, we delved into the Spanish word “Amarillo,” which translates to “yellow” 💛. The students engaged in creative activities, crafting yellow-themed paintings, such as suns, for their color books. These paintings will be taken home as a memento of their learning journey. Additionally, we revisited the numbers 1-10 and the colors covered in weeks 1-4. We will see you all next week. 💛
Art Enrichment- Winter Art Exploration: Penguin Print Making - Using Foil and Markers🐧
Students engaged in a creative print-making technique that transformed simple materials into artistic expressions. During this session, students carefully drew and colored on foil using washable markers. By lightly misting the foil with water and transferring their artwork onto the penguin print paper, they discovered a fascinating method of creating This art activity not only explored winter-themed imagery but also introduced students to an innovative printmaking method that reveals unexpected artistic results. 🎨
Spanish Enrichment Session 2 - week 4. This week, we learned the Spanish word “naranjo,” which means “orange.” 🧡 Students had a blast painting orange-themed portraits for their color books, and they’ll be taking them home at the end of the session. We also went over numbers 1-10 and the colors from weeks 1-3.
This week, we delved into the world of mono printing, a simple yet impactful process-based art activity that offers significant developmental benefits. As children engage in painting, drawing into wet paint with Q-tips, and pressing the paper to reveal their prints, they enhance their fine motor skills, finger isolation, hand-eye coordination, and pressure control. These skills are crucial for pre-writing development.
Beyond these physical benefits, this open-ended experience fosters lines, sensory exploration, visual planning, creativity, and confidence. Each print is unique, emphasizing the importance of the process rather than the final product.
Music & Movement Enrichment – Session 2, Week 3
This week we had so much fun learning about the tambourine! We listened to the different sounds it can make and practiced shaking and tapping to the beat. The children loved trying out a real tambourine and then got creative making their very own tambourines to play and take home. Lots of music, movement, and smiles!
